Why are 2G & 3G networks closing?
Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) across the globe are starting to phase out their 3G and 2G networks to make way for 5G.
Networks are calling it sunsetting. But with thousands of machine-to machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) applications still relying on 2G and 3G services, users of these services must consider the need for decommissioning, SIM swaps, upgrading and/or complete replacement of devices.
A comprehensive list of sunset dates for each network can be found below.
What action should you take?
Whilst we will try to maintain this list as accurately as possible, we are not tracking each network globally for updates. Officially networks only need to give three months’ notice to confirm the shutdown of network services.

* Please note that AT&T roaming partners will continue to turn down their 3G networks in line with their own schedules. Users should take appropriate action to ensure applications and devices remain connected after this time. It is advised that when re-deploying with a new mobile network, users should build in ample time for development and compatibility testing.
