Just-Eat has pioneered the development of its ‘Just Connect’ (JCT) box, developed alongside Danish wireless product development company, RTX. The box itself – designed to remove the need for fixed-line connectivity – comprises a GPRS modem, a small thermal printing device and, crucially, a Wireless Logic data SIM. The box is distinct in that it features ‘feedback and confirmation buttons’ that allow the restaurant to accept, decline or modify orders, there and then, which mitigates any delay; something that was a problem under the old model. Each embedded SIM is activated upon the signing of the service contract and so are active as soon as installed within each restaurant.
In this way, for the first time, restaurants are given a two-way communication device, via a secure fixed IP address, which allows Just-Eat greater control over the service offered by its participating restaurants an opportunity to respond to, and modify, orders if necessary.
